Make your college experience snazzy with jazz!
Whether you’re majoring in physics or philosophy, 会计或艺术, if you’ve got an ear and a passion for jazz, this is the minor for you! Frostburg State University’s Jazz minor is open to any student curious to learn more about the theory, 历史 and practice of jazz. The program offers classes covering all aspects of the musical genre, from its origins and influences to private instruction on the instrument of your choice.
- Broaden your experience as a music major or pick up where you left off on prior music studies in an instrument or voice.
- Explore the rich 历史 of jazz as a musical genre with courses on theory, 历史, ensemble practice and private instruction as well as basic music theory and skills.

Develop your skills with a variety of musical performance groups to join, including the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Combos.

Take a break from practice to attend some of the many guest performances and recitals hosted by the 音乐 Department every semester. Hearing what others have been working on is a great way to get ideas for your own music.

Shine in the classroom and on the stage! FSU’s Performing Arts Center features fully equipped MIDI and piano labs, two rehearsal halls and an exquisite recital hall with seating for over 450 patrons.

While the dedication required for a music program will help you in any field you choose, having specialized training and experience in music also opens doors for you as a musical artist, whether you pursue music as a hobby or as a professional.
